  • Every event needs a host. If you are seeing this option, then this event does not yet have one. The event host will not incur a fee for this event. The host will need to have the appropriate cards available, and will be responsible for collecting event fees from all other attendees BEFORE the games begin. These should be handed over to Gary at the earliest opportunity. An email or phone call to Gary with an attendance report is also requested.

It's that time of year again, and I'm hoping that we will again be able to meet and play our favorite German card games at this year's Oktoberfest celebration at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds (http://www.clevelandoktoberfest.com).

The festival runs from Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3 (Labor Day). I have scheduled the event for Sunday, September 3 and have made myself available for the entire day. I have chosen this day based on both the longer window of time available and the fact that Sundays have always been a popular choice for this particular event. As long as we have at least three players (more is better) we will meet and have a great time eating, drinking, and playing cards!

NOTE: You will be asked for an ETA and an ETD when you RSVP. PLEASE be as accurate as possible when answering these questions, as the start and end time of the event will be adjusted to more accurately reflect when we will actually be there!

The price of admission is currently listed on their website as $13, but you can save $3 by ordering online (http://www.clevelandoktoberfest.com/tickets/) (save only $2 after August 31, so order early).

Parking is FREE, as always, so bring your car!

PLEASE NOTE: I am not planning to teach anyone at this event. If you would like to attend, please attend some of our German card game events in the weeks preceeding this event so that you can learn.

Possible games to be played:

• Haferltarock (3 players)

Schafkopf (4 players)

Skat (3 players)

Watten (2-4 players)

Sechsundsechzig (Sixty-Six) (2 players)

Doppelkopf (4 players)

Schieberamsch (3 players)

We will play whichever of them fits our number of attendees and/or is in most demand.
